Jackson Struggles as Nats Get Blanked by Brewers

By Michael Marzzacco

Edwin Jackson had a forgettable outing on Tuesday night and the Nationals offense failed to get an answer as the Brewers took the three-game series opener 8-0 at Nationals Park. Jackson’s loss evened his record at 1-1 on the season as he went five innings allowing seven runs on seven hits. Three of those runs were earned. Jackson could only strike out three batters and finished his outing throwing 112 pitches.

The Nationals offense had trouble solving Zach Davies. Davies improved his record to 12-4 and went 7.2 innings striking out seven while allowing three hits. Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman and Daniel Murphy aka Murder’s Row were the only ones to reach base unless you count Anthony Rendon drawing a walk.

The Nats will try to bounce back on Wednesday night on Fedora Night. First pitch is at 7:05 as Gio Gonzalez takes the mound.
