Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman, Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg were in Miami representing the Nationals for the 2017 All Star Game at Marlins Park. One year from now the festivities will be in DC but last night the Nats had five All Star representatives. Scherzer got the start on the mound and had a stellar first inning. Zimmerman, Murphy and Harper were in the field. Even though the All Star Game will be on our turf next year, DC was well represented in South Beach. Here are the highlights from Miami.

Max Scherzer killed it in the opening inning. The two different colored eyed beast had nothing but swagger and confidence. Scherzer got Jose Altuve to ground out. Scherzer picked up the ball and fired it to Ryan Zimmerman at first base. Jose Ramirez singled but that was all Scherzer would give up as he struck out Aaron Judge and George Springer to end the opening half inning.

Bryce Harper singled in the bottom of the first inning. He also made a killer diving catch.

Daniel Murphy began the bottom of the second with a single into left field.

Overall, the Nats players went 2 for 5 with one walk and two hits. Sadly Stephen Strasburg didn’t see any in-game action. The American League took the lead in the fifth with a base hit by Miguel Sano. The National League tied it in the sixth with a home run by Yadier Molina. The game would go to extras and the difference maker would be a home run by Robinson Cano in the top of the 10th. The AL won 2-1.
