The Nationals used a four-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth to power their way to an 11-4 win over the Mets on the Fourth of July. The teams will meet again tonight at 7:05 p.m. for the series finale.

After Jose Reyes led off the game with a home run the Nats got on the board in the third with an RBI pop-up single by Bryce Harper that just landed into the outfield over the outstretched glove of Reyes that scored Jose Lobaton. Daniel Murphy followed with a single into left-center that scored Michael Taylor.

Harper had another RBI single in the fifth into right field that scored Wlmer Difo. Murphy hit his second RBI single off the glove of third basemen Wilmer Flores that scored Harper. In the eighth, Harper singled home Difo while Murphy doubled home Harper. In all, Murphy had four hits and five RBI’s against the team he loves to haunt.
