Daniel Murphy hit his eighth homer of the year but it wasn’t enough as the Nationals fell to the Braves 7-4 at SunTrust Park in Atlanta.
The Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second on a two-run homer by Dansby Swanson. In the third the Nats answered with an infield single by Trea Turner that scored Michael Taylor to get on the board. They took a 3-2 lead later in the inning when Bryce Harper reached first on a fielding error by first baseman Jace Peterson that scored Turner and Jayson Werth. The Braves responded in the bottom of that inning with a home run by Matt Kemp.
In the fourth, Murphy’s long ball gave the Nats the 4-3 lead.

In the fifth, Kurt Susuki doubled into center field to score Nick Markakis to tie the game. In the eighth the Braves scored three times off reliever Enny Romero to take the lead for good. First an RBI single by Markakis and a two run shot by Suzuki to haunt his former team.
