Ryan Zimmerman had his fifth consecutive multi-hit game and his 13th so far during this young season but even his hot bat couldn’t help the Nats solve the D-Backs as they dropped the series opener in DC on Tuesday night 6-3.

Tanner Roark struck out eight batters over six innings while throwing 125 pitches.

In the top of the first, Paul Goldschmidt singled into center field to score A.J. Pollock to put Arizona up 1-0 early. In the bottom frame with two on, Bryce Harper singled into left field to score Trea Turner to tie the game at 1. The Nats went up 3-1 in the third with a two-run single by Daniel Murphy that scored Harper and Zimmerman.

The Diamondbacks came back in the fourth with a solo shot by Jake Lamb and a two-run shot by Chris Herrmann to give the visitors a 4-3 lead. They would never look back and the Diamondbacks bullpen threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

The Nats get another crack tonight at 7:05.
