Nats Bats Light it up in Colorado

By Michael Marzzacco

The Nationals offense blasted off on Wednesday night over one of the best teams in the National League 11-4. This give the Nats a 2-1 advantage in the four game series with the finale taking place this afternoon at Coors Field. First pitch is at 3:10 eastern.

The Nats used 14 hits including five from Bryce Harper en route to the win. It was also their ninth win in 10 days. Washington struck first in the second inning. After loading the bases, Adam Eaton delivered a hit past the glove of second baseman DJ LeMahieu to score two and give the visitors the 2-0 edge. Eaton would make it to second with a double.

Turner would flash the leather.

Three innings later Turner, who hit for the cycle yesterday, homered into the seats in center field for his second round tripper of the year.

Harper would get on with a walk and Ryan Zimmerman delivered a two run bomb for his eighth of the year to give the Nats a 5-0 lead.

In the seventh with two on, Zimmerman drove home Turner with a single into left field. Daniel Murphy followed with a three-run bomb.

In the eighth, Turner doubled home Eaton and Harper delivered a single to left field that scored Turner for the final Washington run. Turner needed just a triple for back-to-back cycles but he wasn’t able to get another at-bat.
