Stephen Strasburg made his final Grapefruit League start before he takes the mound Monday afternoon at Nationals Park for Opening Day. The Nationals fell to the Cardinals 6-2 and could only muster a tie against them this Spring but the games don’t count until next week and should they meet St. Louis again in under seven months, then they’ll really count. The Nats have one more game in Florida today at Fort Myers against the Red Sox. First pitch is at 1:05.
Strasburg allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over four innings of work with two strikeouts. He threw a total of 61 pitches, 42 for strikes and finished his spring with a 6.61 ERA in five starts.
The Nats got their first run int he top of the second with a single by Stephen Drew into centerfield that scored Matt Wieters. In the third, Ryan Zimmerman homered over the right-centerfield wall for his second homer of the spring.
