The Nationals fell to the Marlins 4-2 in their final home game at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches this spring. The Nats have two more games left in Florida. On Wednesday, they’ll see the Cardinals in Jupiter with a 12:05 first pitch.

Jacob Turner and Jeremy Guthrie were the Nationals’ candidates for a long reliever. Both had auditions today. Turner gave up three runs in the first inning but still went four innings, giving up two hits while striking out three. Guthrie had another strong spring outing, giving up one run on three hits with three strikeouts in four innings which lowered his ERA to 2.41.

Jayson Werth hit his second home run of the spring in the bottom of the second with a two-run bomb into the berm in left-center.

In the third inning, Trea Turner made a great defensive play. The shortstop dove for a ground ball, and fired to Ryan Zimmerman at first base to get the out.
