The Nationals announced on Thursday that they have resigned infielder Stephen Drew to a one-year deal. Last season, the Nats’ bench was one of the best in baseball and Drew was a big part of that.
Last season he was used mostly as a pinch hitter and a defensive replacement. In 70 games he hit .266/.339/.524 with eight homers.
The deal is worth $3.5 million including $1.2 million in incentives. Drew showed a lot of versatility last season playing 21 games at second base, 12 at third and 12 at shortstop and tied with teammate Chris Heisey for second in the MLB in pinch-hit homers with three.
