Wilson Ramos hit a solo shot in the seventh inning to center field and the Nats held off the Mets for a 1-0 win, reducing their magic number to seven. Despite the loss, the Mets didn’t lose their spot in the Wild Card thanks to losses by the Cardinals and Giants.
Tanner Roark had an excellent outing on the mound, going seven innings while striking out seven. Ramos smacked it into the red seats of the Budweiser Brewhouse for his 21st of the season. Only Gary Carter has the most home runs for the Nats/Expos franchise when he clubbed 27 in 1984.
The Nationals have the day off before traveling to Turner Field in Atlanta for the final time. The Braves will move into a new ballpark next year.
