Nationals center fielder Trea Tuner was named National League Rookie of the Month for the month of August. It was his first full month in the big leagues.
He was impressive during the last month of summer as he hit .357 with five home runs, 15 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, a 3.66 on-base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage.
Turner also had 45 hits during the month of August which was two shy of the Nats/Expos franchise record, which was held by Daniel Murphy (May 2016), Al Oliver (August 1982) and Marquis Grissom (June 1994).
This was just the fourth Rookie of the Month award won by a Nat. The only other Nationals to take home the honor were Bryce Harper (May and September-October 2012) and Ryan Church (May 2005).
