The Nationals dropped their second consecutive ballgame Friday night and the first game of the three game weekend series against the San Diego Padres 5-3.
Matt Kemp homered with two outs in the top of the first to give the Padres the 1-0 lead. The Nats took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of that frame on a Jayson Werth homer and an RBI single by Wilson Ramos.
An RBI single by Melvin Upton in the fifth tied the game and a three-run homer by Matt Kemp gave them the lead for good. Daniel Murphy hit a solo shot in the eighth but it wasn’t enough as the Nats fell 5-3.
The Nats look to even the series tonight in front of their home crowd. First pitch is at 7:05.
